The New Canaan teen was issued a juvenile summons following an investigation by New Canaan Police, said Lt. Jason Ferraro.

The department had an increased presence at the school on Friday, Jan. 17, after several students voiced concerns after seeing the online posts.

School officials contacted police after they were contacted by the students.

No specific threat was made, school officials said. But out of an abundance of caution and to make students feel safer, school officials contacted police who are providing extra officers at the school on Friday.

Ferraro said at no time were students in danger and the threat was deemed non-credible.

New Canaan Schools Superintendent Bryan D. Luizzi said in an email to the school community that "while there was not a particular or specific threat, we nonetheless felt it was important to have police visibility: as a deterrent, as a demonstration of our zero-tolerance approach to anything threatening, and to show our students who reported that we will take them seriously and respond when they contact us with concerns."
